Tunisia's Health Mission in the Holy Sites Works Around the Clock to Ensure Pilgrims' Health
Tunisia's health mission in the Holy Sites operates 24/7 and conducts 900 daily consultations to ensure that Tunisian pilgrims can reach Mount Arafat in good health, said Dr. Mohamed Soussi, the mission's general coordinator.
In a phone interview today, Saturday, May 23, 2026, on the National Radio's "Yom Saïd" program, Dr. Soussi explained that the medical mission is currently preparing pilgrims for the most important stage, which is the gathering at Arafat, ensuring they are in good physical condition.
Pilgrims' Transfer to Begin on Monday
The coordinator announced that the transfer operation to the sacred sites will begin on Monday, emphasizing that the mobile medical clinics are ready to provide daily follow-up care for pilgrims from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Dr. Mohamed Soussi called on all Tunisian pilgrims present in the Holy Sites to take all necessary precautions to protect themselves from the high temperatures, to be cautious of sunburns, and to strictly follow the advice and instructions to avoid any health complications.
All Pilgrims Ready for Arafat Stage
Dr. Soussi confirmed that all Tunisian pilgrims are ready for the Arafat gathering, reiterating that medical accompaniment will be maintained at their side in Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mina. Regarding pilgrims' nutrition, the National Radio's intervener explained that it has been carefully studied by the Tunisian National Institute of Nutrition.
However, Dr. Soussi mentioned some difficulties, including the fact that 60% of pilgrims suffer from chronic diseases, in addition to the high temperatures.
He emphasized that the primary objective of the health mission is to enable all pilgrims to reach Mount Arafat in good physical and psychological health, allowing them to perform their rituals with serenity.
Finally, he reassured that the overall health status of Tunisian pilgrims is generally good, except for a single female pilgrim currently hospitalized, for whom efforts are being made to ensure her transfer to Arafat in the best possible health conditions.
