Verdict in Case Against Polluting Industrial Units of Tunisian Chemical Group Postponed
The ruling in the urgent proceedings to halt the polluting industrial units of the Tunisian Chemical Group (GCT) has been postponed to December 25.
Background
This is the fourth hearing in the procedure initiated by the regional section of the Bar Association in Gabès, according to its president, Mounir Adouni, in a statement to the TAP Agency.
Latest Developments
The court has decided to include the Ministry of Environment, the National Agency for Environmental Protection (ANPE), and the Ministry of Health in the case file, in addition to ordering the defendants to provide additional justifying documents.
Protests Outside the Court
On the sidelines of this fourth hearing, a protest rally was held in front of the Court of First Instance in Gabès, initiated by citizens and civil society activists.
Demands
The participants called for the dismantling of these units, affirming "the right of the region's inhabitants to a healthy environment and unpolluted air".
