United Nations Confirm Devastating Humanitarian Consequences in Gaza
The United Nations has confirmed that the escalation of hostilities by the Israeli entity in the city of Gaza has disastrous humanitarian consequences for residents, many of whom had already been displaced from northern Gaza.
The UN spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, stated, citing humanitarian partners, that over 82,000 new displacements were recorded between August 14 and 31. Among them, 30,000 people fled from the north to the south. He described the conditions in the shelter sites as deplorable, with debris accumulating near or inside residential areas.
On its part, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned that the escalation of the ongoing offensive on the city of Gaza, coupled with persistent famine, could plunge civilians into an even deeper catastrophe.
