Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement Returns Body of Zionist Hostage
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement returned the body of a Zionist hostage on Friday evening, as part of the current ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
According to a statement from the Zionist army published on Saturday, identification analyses confirmed that the body was that of Lior Rodaev, whose remains were found in Khan Younès, in the southern part of the Palestinian territory.
This exchange is part of the agreement concluded in October between the Zionist entity and Palestinian factions, which provides for the release of 20 living hostages in exchange for approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, as well as the return of the bodies of 28 hostages in exchange for 360 Palestinian bodies.
With this return, 23 bodies of hostages have been returned so far, in exchange for 285 Palestinian bodies, according to official sources cited by the media. However, the health authorities in Gaza indicate that not all bodies have been identified yet.
The Gaza Ministry of Health also states that nearly 69,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed since the start of the war.
Despite the fragile ceasefire, the situation remains tense in several areas of the territory. However, this truce has allowed hundreds of thousands of residents to return to their destroyed homes and Israel to withdraw its troops from certain urban areas, facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid.
