Food Safety Crackdown: Non-Compliant Products Seized Near Schools

As part of a campaign to control businesses near schools, inspection teams from the National Institute of Food Safety and Products (INSSPA) in the Gafsa governorate seized 157 liters of non-compliant lemon juice. These products, discovered in a store facing a school, had no labels indicating ingredients, origin, or manufacturing and expiration dates.

The inspectors also confiscated 27 kg of expired merguez and turkey from another nearby store. Reports have been filed, and the offenders will be brought to justice after the completion of legal procedures.

The INSSPA emphasizes the importance for all food sector actors to respect basic food safety conditions, including good practices. The Institute also calls on citizens to be cautious when making purchases, checking the expiration date and labeling, and refusing to buy perishable products exposed outside the cold chain.
