Food Poisoning Cases Linked to Gafsa Bakery Leave 44 People in Hospital

Between Sunday and Monday, 44 individuals presented themselves to the emergency services of the Houcine Bouzaïene University Hospital in Gafsa, following cases of food poisoning linked to the consumption of pastries from a local bakery, according to the hospital's director, Ridha M'hamdi.

The hospital director stated that 12 individuals were hospitalized, with their health condition described as stable.

Meanwhile, the regional coordinator of the National Food Safety and Product Security Instance (INSSPA), Omar Abdelli, emphasized that samples of the pastries in question were taken to identify the germ responsible for the food poisoning.

Additionally, a provisional closure decision was made for the bakery pending the completion of the investigation opened by the prosecutor's office near the Gafsa First Instance Court, according to a security source speaking to the TAP Agency.
