Nurse at Redeyef Hospital Dies from Severe Burns Caused by Electrical Short Circuit
A nurse working at the Redeyef hospital passed away on Thursday morning, December 25, 2025, after succumbing to severe burns caused by an electrical short circuit. This information was confirmed by Mahmoud Mahjoubi, a member of the basic health union in Redeyef, to a Diwan FM correspondent in the region.
Incident and Medical Response
Last Saturday, the hospital employee suffered severe third-degree burns. Given the critical nature of her condition, she was immediately transferred to the Gafsa University Hospital and then to the Ben Arous Center for Traumatology and Severe Burns to receive the necessary care.
Cause of the Accident
According to initial findings, the accident was caused by an electrical short circuit in an electric radiator inside the room where she was working.
Staff Protest
On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, the staff at the local Redeyef hospital held a sit-in protest. The employees denounced what they considered to be indifference from the authorities regarding their colleague's health condition and the safety conditions within the establishment.
