Over 170,000 Visitors Flock to El Hamma Thermal Town in Gabès Governorate
More than 170,000 visitors made their way to the thermal town of El Hamma, located in the Gabès governorate, in 2024, according to confirmed figures from the Regional Delegate for Tourism in Gabès, Bechir Guediri. During his appearance on the "Youm Saïd" show on National Radio, Mr. Guediri stated that the El Khbayat Thermal City project in El Hamma will mark the beginning of true tourist development for the Gabès governorate and the southern region of Tunisia as a whole. Mr. Guediri specified that the cost of the El Khbayat project is estimated at one billion dinars and will have economic benefits for the southeast and southwest regions. He also emphasized that five municipalities in the Gabès governorate are classified as tourist areas out of a total of eleven, adding that all municipalities deserve to be classified as such, given the availability of natural attractions and the richness of cultural heritage. Meanwhile, the Gabès governorate is preparing to host the "Gabès Tourism Day" on October 12, 2025, to showcase the region's tourist and cultural potential. In this context, the Regional Delegate for Tourism in Gabès announced that the promotional tour will cover four southern governorates, starting with Gabès, Kébili, Tataouine, and the Medenine governorate, passing through the island of Djerba.
