Meeting Between the President of the Republic and the Head of Government

The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, received the Head of Government, Mrs. Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, yesterday, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the Carthage Palace.

Discussion Topics

The meeting was dedicated to examining the situation in the Gabès governorate and evaluating the follow-up of public affairs throughout the country.

Historical Moments for Tunisia

On this occasion, the Head of State emphasized that Tunisia is currently experiencing historic moments that the Tunisian people are writing with unprecedented national awareness. He affirmed that he personally monitors the situation in all regions, "in Gabès as elsewhere," he specified.

Environmental and Social Situation in Gabès

Referring to the environmental and social situation in the region, President Saïed praised "the brave population of Gabès, who are facing with courage those who seek to exploit their pain." "If Martyr Daghbaji were still with us, he would have supported this population with his heroic resistance against the plotters," he said, before adding: "The sorting operation is underway, and the harvest of its fruits will be imminent. Each responsible person will have to answer for their actions before the law."

Past Efforts to Address the Ecological Disaster

The Head of State recalled that since 2013, numerous researchers and engineers from Gabès have developed a scientific program to put an end to the ecological disaster that affects the region, emphasizing that he himself was a witness to these efforts. He also mentioned a doctoral thesis proposing concrete and applicable solutions, which remained without follow-up, while denouncing the billions spent in 2017 on equipment that is now abandoned within the Gabès Chemical Group. "Mercenaries wanted to sell this strategic structure at a low price. But history will sweep them away, and they will never return. Tunisia is neither for sale nor for rent, and it is not a question of monetizing the people's pain," the President emphasized.

Liberation War on All Fronts

Referring to the past maneuvers of certain parties "driven by foreign forces," the Head of State affirmed that "Tunisia is currently waging a true war of liberation on all fronts," saluting the political maturity and patriotism of the citizens of Gabès who "demonstrated in complete freedom and in a spirit of responsibility."

Indestructible Bond Between the People and Security Forces

At the end of this meeting, President Kaïs Saïed insisted on "the strength of the unbreakable bond between the Tunisian people and their security forces," estimating that "this collective awareness now constitutes a solid and indestructible rampart against traitors and mercenaries, who continue to receive one slap after another."
