Around twenty individuals were admitted to the local hospital in Ghannouch, in the Gabès governorate, on Tuesday evening, after experiencing asphyxiation symptoms linked to gases emitted by the Tunisian Chemical Group (GCT) based in the region.
According to a local medical source cited by Jawhara Fm, the patients received medical attention from the healthcare teams, and their condition was deemed non-life-threatening.
The incident has reignited concerns among residents regarding the environmental and health impacts of the Tunisian Chemical Group's industrial activities, which have been regularly criticized by civil society and ecological associations.
