Condemnation of Deliberate Vandalism Against VAR Equipment

Following the deliberate acts of vandalism that targeted the video assistant referee (VAR) technical equipment on Sunday evening, causing significant material damage, the Tunisian Football Federation expresses its strong condemnation and deep indignation towards these irresponsible behaviors, which undermine the credibility of national sports and the integrity of its infrastructure and equipment.

In light of these events, the Federation wishes to clarify the following points:

  • The Federation emphasizes that it will show no tolerance in protecting its assets and will initiate all necessary judicial procedures to pursue anyone whose involvement in these acts of sabotage is established. It will also review and strengthen disciplinary regulations and procedures to ensure firm deterrence against any damage to facilities or equipment and to prevent the repetition or aggravation of such incidents.
  • Secondly, the Tunisian Football Federation (TFF) categorically rejects any outrageous or inciting statements that may fuel tensions or harm the image of Tunisian football. It calls on League members to immediately and strictly apply the existing legal provisions and take necessary disciplinary measures to preserve the authority of competitions and respect for their institutions.
  • Finally, and no less importantly, the Federation renews its call to the National Arbitration Directorate to fully assume its responsibilities and impose maximum disciplinary sanctions on any referee who commits serious errors despite the use of VAR technology. The use of this technology aims essentially to reduce errors and ensure arbitral fairness, and such faults can no longer be tolerated under any pretext.

The Tunisian Football Federation reaffirms its unwavering commitment to protecting the integrity of competitions and its assets, as well as to applying the law with the utmost rigor and transparency, in the interest of national football and the preservation of its image.
