Suspension of Protests by the Tunisian Organization of Young Doctors

The President of the Tunisian Organization of Young Doctors (OTJM), Wajih Dhakkar, confirmed on Wednesday evening, in a statement to the National Radio, the suspension of all protest movements by the organization, including the strike scheduled for December 8th.

Background

This decision follows an agreement reached with the supervisory authority during a conciliation session held today at the Ministry of Health headquarters, addressing a series of points of contention.

Key Outcomes

Wajih Dhakkar explained that during this conciliation session, the issue of payment for on-call hours was discussed, and significant progress was made regarding the settlement of financial arrears owed to healthcare personnel working in public hospitals. He added that the Ministry of Health has set up a dedicated application to report any delays in the payment of these arrears, with a maximum deadline of two months to submit notifications related to payment delays.

Salary Increase

Regarding the monthly salary increase, Dhakkar stated that a negotiation session will be held in mid-December to determine the amount of this increase, which will be separate from the increases included in the 2026 Finance Law project for public officials.
