Tunisian MPs Denounce "Criminal Abduction" of Colleague and Freedom Flotilla Members
Members of the Tunisian Parliament, the Assembly of the People's Representatives (ARP), have strongly condemned the "criminal abduction" of their colleague, Mohamed Ali, and members of the global freedom flotilla, Soumoud, which was heading to the Gaza Strip.
In a joint statement, the MPs emphasized that the actions of the occupying forces constitute a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, a direct attack on a sovereign institution representing the will of the Tunisian people, and a serious threat to humanitarian principles guaranteeing freedom of expression, movement, and relief efforts.
The signatories demanded the immediate and unconditional release of MP Mohamed Ali and all those arrested, who are members of the flotilla. They called for the Zionist occupation to be held fully responsible for the safety of the detained Tunisian citizens, considering this abduction a provocation against the entire Tunisian people.
The MPs also called for a firm national stance against this aggression, urging the international community, free parliaments, and human rights organizations to confront these abuses. They further requested an extraordinary parliamentary session to be held and the establishment of an emergency committee to coordinate with national authorities and international organizations to ensure the safety of the MP and Tunisian citizens, and to work towards their release as soon as possible.
