Recent Meeting Evaluates Progress of Flood Protection Project in Tunis

A working session was recently held at the headquarters of the Tunis Governorate, dedicated to assessing the progress of the project to protect the northern and eastern areas of the capital from flooding. Presided over by the Governor of Tunis, Imed Boukhris, the meeting provided an opportunity to review the project's execution status, which aims to reduce the risk of accumulating rainwater, limit recurrent flooding, and improve environmental conditions in the affected areas. The Governor emphasized the strategic importance of this project for the safety of citizens and the urban resilience of the capital. He called for strengthened coordination between the various stakeholders to overcome obstacles hindering the progress of the work, particularly with regard to the relocation of certain public infrastructure (electricity, water networks, etc.) located along the construction route. The objective is to accelerate the pace of project implementation and ensure its completion within the allotted timeframe and according to the required quality standards. The meeting was attended by:

  • The First Delegate of the Governorate
  • Delegates from the delegations of La Marsa, Cité El Khadra, Le Kram, and El Menzah
  • The Director of Urban Water Management at the Ministry of Equipment and Housing
  • The Head of the STEG district in Le Kram
  • Representatives from the municipalities of Tunis and La Marsa
  • Regional directors from STEG and SONEDE
