Tunisia Confirms Its Position as a Hub for African Economic Exchanges
The Tunisia-Africa Business Council is hosting the 9th edition of the Fita conference in Tunis on April 28-29, 2026, bringing together decision-makers and investors to discuss a central issue: transforming African potential into sustainable value.
The Fita Conference: A Major Platform for Economic Dialogue and Partnerships in Africa
The Tunisia-Africa Business Council (Tabc) is organizing the 9th edition of the Fita conference, a major platform dedicated to economic dialogue and partnerships in Africa. This edition focuses on the development of African value chains. The goal is to promote sustainable economic transformation through innovation, strategic partnerships, and better regional integration.
Anis Jaziri, President of the Tunisia-Africa Business Council, announced that this initiative is part of an ambitious dynamic aimed at strengthening Tunisia's presence on the African continent. Today, "Fita" has become a reference platform at the continental level, with increasing participation from high-level economic and institutional actors.
A Coordinated Response to Persistent Deficits
A total of 35 working groups will be organized over two days. Additionally, 180 parliamentarians will be present in several cities. More than 15 partnership agreements will be signed with economic institutions, think tanks, and investment support structures. Three major projects led by Tunisian companies will also be officially announced. These projects, entirely developed by Tunisian actors, illustrate a new phase of economic expansion. These initiatives are the result of over two years of work. According to Jaziri, Tunisia now has a diversified expertise and recognized expertise, in line with the development needs of the African continent.
African Development at a Crossroads
Slah Zouari, Minister of Equipment and Housing, highlighted during "Fita 2026" that Africa is going through a critical phase of its development, driven by unprecedented demographic dynamics but also facing deep structural fragilities. He recalled that the expected growth of the continent cannot be achieved without a coordinated response to persistent deficits in infrastructure, limited access to electricity, clean water, and sanitation services, as well as massive financing needs to support this transformation.
Facing Challenges, Africa Relies on Ambitious Strategic Frameworks
In the face of these challenges, the continent relies on ambitious strategic frameworks, such as the African Union's Agenda 2063, which serves as a roadmap for inclusive and sustainable growth. In parallel, initiatives such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (Zlecaf) offer new perspectives on the development of intra-African exchanges, the organization of value chains, and the strengthening of the continent's economic sovereignty.
Tunisia: An Engaged Actor in the African Dynamic
In this context, Tunisia aims to consolidate its position as an engaged actor in the African dynamic through the implementation of structuring projects and to strengthen regional connectivity and fluidify exchanges. Participation in the trans-Saharan road project illustrates this strategic orientation, facilitating links between North Africa and sub-Saharan Africa and opening up new economic opportunities for companies.
Infrastructure Development and Cooperation
The Minister also highlighted the efforts made by Tunisia in modernizing transportation infrastructure, managing water resources sustainably, and developing integrated territorial development. He emphasized the decisive role of infrastructure as the foundation of economic development, highlighting that it conditions both the competitiveness of economies, the attractiveness of investments, and the integration of territories.
Finally, he called for strengthened cooperation between African countries, estimating that only a collective approach, based on solid partnerships, the exchange of expertise, and joint mobilization of resources, will allow us to overcome common challenges and transform the continent's potential into sustainable and inclusive growth.
