University of Tunis El Manar and The University of Electro-Communications (UEC-Tokyo) Sign Academic Cooperation Agreement

The University of Tunis El Manar and The University of Electro-Communications (UEC-Tokyo) have signed an academic cooperation agreement, paving the way for the creation of the first joint Tunisian-Japanese professional doctorate in the field of electronic communications engineering and, more broadly, industrial engineering.

"The agreement aims to strengthen the exchange of expertise and scientific cooperation between researchers and students from both institutions," said Moez Chafra, President of the University of Tunis El Manar, during an interview on National Radio this morning.

According to Chafra, this partnership will allow each doctoral student to be accompanied by a partner company, with the goal of promoting applied research and technology transfer to the Tunisian industrial sector.

The official also announced the signing of a new cooperation agreement with the People's Republic of China on Thursday, as well as the upcoming programming of partnerships with the European Union, the United States, and Canada.

The signing ceremony with the Japanese university took place on Wednesday, in the presence of the Director of the National School of Engineers, the Director of the Doctoral School, and the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences.

Additionally, Chafra recalled that the University of Tunis El Manar ranks first nationally and in the Maghreb region, and 41st at the Arab level, according to the QS 2025 ranking of Arab universities.

The institution comprises 15 university institutions, 109 research laboratories, as well as two major research centers: the Pasteur Institute of Tunis and the Institute of Agricultural Research.
