Former Minister Mehdi Ben Gharbia Sentenced to Prison

The sixth correctional chamber, specializing in financial corruption cases at the Court of First Instance in Tunis, has sentenced former minister and businessman Mehdi Ben Gharbia to two years in prison, along with fines. The public prosecutor's office had decided to refer Mehdi Ben Gharbia, who was out on bail, to the Correctional Chamber for financial corruption cases to be tried for accusations and crimes of a customs and banking nature related to commercial companies he manages. It is worth noting that Mehdi Ben Gharbia is currently being held in connection with the case of the murder of young woman Rahma in the Aïn Zaghouan region in 2020.
