Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the Effective Presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association Announce the 50th Edition of the Hassan II Trophy and the 29th Edition of the Lalla Meryem Cup
A Legacy of Vision
Founded in 1971 by the late King Hassan II, the Hassan II Trophy has reached a highly symbolic milestone with its 50th edition. At its core lies a founding vision: to make golf a vector of radiance for Morocco, while inscribing the Kingdom in a dynamic international sports movement faithful to its historical and cultural references.
Today, this vision is fully integrated into the dynamic driven by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which has enabled Morocco to assert its place on the international scene, making sport a concrete driver of development.
This anniversary edition celebrates the continuity of a competition that, over the decades, has preserved its singularity and stature: a deep anchorage in Moroccan history, as well as a constant ability to attract top golfers from around the world to Rabat. This tournament embodies a living Moroccan heritage, a shared legacy that this edition revives and reinforces its symbolic significance.
Born from the vision of the late King Hassan II, this event is now, under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, part of a continuity carried by the commitment of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid.
A Structuring Trajectory
This celebration recalls that the Hassan II Trophy has, over time, become a genuine driver of development. For over half a century, it has accompanied the structuring of an ecosystem built around it, driven by the development of infrastructure, the growth of golf tourism, the increased notoriety of the Kingdom, the progressive organization of the sports sector, the impetus given to youth, and the emergence of talents. This jubilee confirms the civic dimension of this meeting, which has become a genuine national sports heritage.
Beyond the competition, the Hassan II Trophy is part of a broader vision: that of a genuine national project where sport dialogues with the economy, youth, the environment, and the image of the Kingdom. Faithful to the values of hospitality and the art of living in Morocco, it contributes to offering a unique experience, both sporting and human.
A Week of Competition in the Footsteps of Legends
This radiance has also been written at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, whose fairways have been trodden by some of the most iconic figures in world golf. Billy Casper occupies a special place: a double winner of the tournament, he had a particular attachment to Morocco. Alongside him, Gary Player, Tony Jacklin, Lee Trevino, Severiano Ballesteros, Vijay Singh, Payne Stewart, Nick Price, Pádraig Harrington, Ernie Els, and many others have contributed to anchoring the Hassan II Trophy in the memory of international golf.
It is in this context that a week of competition is taking place, driven by these two golf events.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Hassan II Trophy will be contested on the Red Course and will welcome 66 legends from the PGA TOUR Champions, as part of the only stage of this circuit held on the African continent.
In 2025, Miguel Ángel Jiménez emerged victorious at the end of an edition marked by the density of the field and the quality of the spectacle offered.
This lineup is complemented by the Lalla Meryem Cup, whose presence gives the entire event a unique character in the international golf landscape. Born from the tradition of mixity introduced by the late King Hassan II when it was created in 1993, it takes place simultaneously on the same site. Organized on the Blue Course, it will bring together 132 top female golfers in the framework of a solidly inscribed event in the Ladies European Tour calendar.
At the previous edition, Englishwoman Cara Gainer emerged victorious at the end of a play-off, marking the end of an edition that also illustrated the level and intensity of this week of competition.
Youth in the Continuity of History
Youth will also be part of this celebration through the Pro-Am Hassan II Kids Cup by First Tee, designed as a moment of transmission and sharing between young practitioners and professional golfers. This sequence prolongs the spirit of the event by linking the legacy of the Hassan II Trophy and the Lalla Meryem Cup to the momentum today in favor of young people.
A Responsible and Sustainable Approach
The Golden Jubilee also highlights a responsible approach to the development of golf, particularly through the innovative management of the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, which is exemplary in its respect for the environment and the preservation of water resources.
This iconic site illustrates Morocco's ability to reconcile sporting performance, resource preservation, and the valorization of its natural heritage, in a sustainable and controlled logic.
A Jubilee Inspiring Inspiration
On the occasion of this 50th edition, the Hassan II Trophy reaffirms its vocation: to inspire future generations, enrich national sports heritage, and contribute to raising the Kingdom's colors even higher.
The Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association invite the public, golf enthusiasts, and all stakeholders in the golf world to come and celebrate this unique moment and to live, in Rabat, a week marked by sport, history, emotion, and national pride.
