Remarkable Attendance of Young People at the 5th Edition of the Employment Meetings
The headquarters of the Utica witnessed a remarkable attendance of young people yesterday, on the occasion of the 5th edition of the Employment Meetings, held on October 2 and 3, at the initiative of Keyjob, the first employment platform in Tunisia, with a database of over 450,000 CVs and 40,000 companies.
An Opportunity for Candidates and Companies to Connect
The event offers candidates the opportunity to directly connect with recruiters, and companies to "hunt for talent", through an organized exhibition space. It also provides a platform for reflection on the main problems related to employment in the era of artificial intelligence, through thematic panels featuring various speakers, including large companies, experts, and human resource managers, now called "Talent managers" in many up-to-date companies.
A Record Number of Registrations
No less than 18,000 online registrations were recorded, according to the organizers, who chose "New Professions" as the theme for this 5th edition, against the backdrop of the rapid evolution of the employment market in the digital age and high-speed internet.
New Professions, New Approaches, and New Requirements
There are new professions, of course, but also new approaches and new requirements, necessitating innovations from all stakeholders: candidates, companies, administration, support structures, etc. This issue was discussed during the first panel of the first day of the event.
A Third of Young People Do Not Work
According to official figures cited by Lilia Makhlouf, Director General at the Ministry of Employment, one-third (1/3) of young people (graduates or not) do nothing with their days, among whom only 3% follow a training course, which represents a lost energy that the economy cannot benefit from, a loss for companies, and a lot of wasted time for graduates.
Experts Emphasize the Need for Communication and Innovation
Experts participating in the event, including Mounira Bouzouita, Saoussen Krichen, and Ihsen Ben Mansour, acknowledge the existence of a lack of communication. Candidates do not know how to write their skills, and companies do not express the required qualifications properly. As a result, neither the candidate nor the company can connect to evolve together. Hence the need for both parties to be accompanied to establish the desired synchronization.
The Importance of Acquiring New Skills and Behaviors
Obtaining a diploma does not automatically guarantee getting the best job, as things evolve rapidly, and skill needs change, requiring permanent agility and continuous reactivity to achieve business growth objectives and professional and personal development for employees.
The Need for Innovation and Anticipation
Innovating to anticipate market developments, rather than reacting late, is also emphasized. Having a diploma, acquiring sought-after skills on the job market, and never stopping learning new knowledge, skills, and behaviors, which recruiters qualify as "behavioral skills", is now the ideal scheme not only for getting a job but also for evolving and staying on top.
The Ministry of Employment's Initiatives
According to Lilia Makhlouf, the Ministry of Employment has already put in place mechanisms, tools, and complementary training to enable young graduates to acquire additional skills demanded by the job market. She also announced the upcoming launch of a national program to support potential job seekers from a young age in school, to assess their aptitudes and develop them from school, high school, and university.
Conclusion
"We have all the necessary tools to know what's happening in the world. What we need is follow-up, monitoring, and communication," pleaded expert Mounira Bouzouita in conclusion.
