Gianni Infantino Pledges FIFA Support for Gaza Sports Infrastructure Reconstruction
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has committed to supporting the reconstruction of sports infrastructure in Gaza as part of broader post-war reconstruction efforts, following the Peace Summit held in Egypt on Monday. Infantino was among over 20 global leaders who attended the summit in the Red Sea resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh. After signing a document outlining regional stability and reconstruction plans, Infantino stated: "It's really important for FIFA to be here to support, help, and ensure the success and implementation of this peace process." The FIFA President indicated that his organization would help bring football back to Gaza and other Palestinian territories, including rebuilding destroyed facilities and launching a fund to support new fields and youth programs. He added: "The role of football is to support, unite, and give hope. We will help rebuild all football facilities in Gaza and bring the game back to normal in cooperation with the Palestinian Football Federation, in addition to offering opportunities to children through this sport." Infantino also stated that FIFA would contribute with mini-pitches and "FIFA Arenas" and invite other partners to join this effort, emphasizing that "football gives hope to children, and that's extremely important."
