Explosions Heard in Gulf Cities as UAE Accuses Iran at UN Security Council
Detonations were reported on Tuesday in several major Gulf cities, according to witnesses cited by Reuters and AFP, while the United Arab Emirates formally blamed Iran before the United Nations Security Council.
- Reuters reported, based on direct testimony, that loud blasts rang out in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, as well as in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
- AFP corroborated the accounts through its own correspondents on the ground, who said they personally heard multiple powerful explosions in Dubai and Doha. Eyewitnesses also reported detonations in Abu Dhabi.
In a letter addressed to the UN Security Council, the United Arab Emirates demanded that Iran immediately cease its attacks and refrain from any unlawful use of threat or force. The UAE further declared that it would take all necessary and legal measures to protect its territory, its citizens, residents, and visitors.
