The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) announced in a statement published on Sunday that preliminary investigations into the explosion that occurred last night in the El Mourouj region (Ben Arous governorate) rule out any responsibility of the external gas network. According to initial findings, neither the external pipelines nor the meters were damaged.
Initial Findings
The STEG specifies that the first elements of the investigation reveal that the gas leak that caused the incident originated from the internal network of the affected home, and not from an external distribution pipe, contrary to information relayed on social networks.

As soon as the explosion was reported, STEG's technical teams went to the scene to secure the area and carry out the necessary interventions, in coordination with the civil protection and security services.
