National Road Safety Observatory Issues Weather Alert

The National Road Safety Observatory has called on motorists and motorcyclists to take a series of precautions due to expected weather disruptions in Tunisia starting from this Monday.

In a statement published on its official Facebook page, the Observatory reminded that Tunisia is expected to experience heavy rainfall from today, which could cause flooding and traffic difficulties, particularly in the northern and central regions.

The Observatory urged all car and motorcycle drivers to reduce their speed and increase safety distances, as a wet road increases the braking distance required. It also advised against crossing wadis or flooded roads.

Additionally, it called for vehicle checks to ensure the good condition of tires, windshield wipers, and headlights before taking to the road. It is also necessary to turn on headlights to improve visibility for drivers and pedestrians.

The Observatory also encouraged pedestrians to be cautious when crossing the road, to stay away from the edge of the pavement, and to wear light-colored or reflective clothing if possible.
