European Commission Imposes €157 Million Fine on Luxury Brands Gucci, Chloé, and Loewe
The European Commission announced on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, that it has imposed a fine of €157 million on luxury brands Gucci, Chloé, and Loewe for imposing price restrictions on their distributors, in violation of competition rules.
According to the European Executive's statement, Gucci, owned by the Kering group, received the heaviest sanction, amounting to €119.7 million, followed by Chloé (€19.7 million) and Loewe (€18 million).
Brussels reproaches the three brands for interfering in the commercial policies of their retailers, particularly by prohibiting them from deviating from recommended selling prices, limiting discounts, and framing sales periods.
These practices, the Commission emphasizes, infringe upon the freedom of distributors to set prices and distort competition in favor of the brands' exclusive sales channels.
The Kering group, on its part, indicated that the European Commission's investigation is now closed, specifying that the financial impact of the fine has been integrated into its first-half 2025 results.
