Despite Their Brilliant Victory in Kairouan, ESZ Lost Their Leader's Seat
The success against AS Soliman has become imperative in the hope of regaining the top spot. La Presse — Relegated to second place with 16 points, one point behind the new leader, ST, Anis Boujelbène and his team have only one objective against AS Soliman: the three points. On paper, the match seems easy given the huge gap in the standings between the two teams, but it will be difficult mentally as the opponent will certainly give their all to escape the cycle of bad results.
A Trap Match
"This is the kind of trap match that is frightening against an opponent for whom the result is the top priority to avoid sinking," confirms Anis Boujelbène. "We must therefore take all precautions to approach this high-stakes match with intelligence, which is crucial for both teams. For us, to continue our momentum at the top of the table, and for them to escape the trap of the bottom of the pack.
The Ideal Scenario
The ideal scenario for us would be to find the first goal quickly. And this option has a price: to take control of the match from the start, with all the risks that it could entail."
An Offensively-Minded Team
The last two disappointing home matches against USBG (1-1) and USM (0-1 defeat) have served as a lesson. To get the three points, ESZ must go for it from the start and not waste an entire half observing their opponent. An opponent who returns to the locker room at halftime without a significant handicap often comes back strong in the second half and can make life difficult for their opponent, even managing to snatch the three points in the final minutes of the match.
A Lesson Learned
"The terrible scenario of the match against the Monastirians has stayed with me like a thorn in my heart. I have thought a lot about it to avoid reliving such a brutal setback. We redeemed ourselves in Kairouan, but we must not repeat this kind of accident if we want to stay in the running for the championship until the end," admits Anis Boujelbène, a well-aware man. Against AS Soliman, success is therefore an imperative objective.
