Esperance Sportive de Tunis Qualifies for African Champions League Group Stage
Esperance Sportive de Tunis has validated its ticket to the group stage of the African Football Confederation (CAF) Champions League, after dominating Burkinabe team Rahimo FC (3-0) on Sunday in Rades, in the second preliminary round return leg. The goals for the Tunisian team were scored by Hamza Jelassi (33rd minute), Florian Danho (52nd minute), and Achref Jabri (72nd minute). The first leg, which took place in Ouagadougou, ended with a narrow victory for Esperance ST (1-0). The other Tunisian representative in the competition, US Monastir, will not advance to the group stage, having lost again to JS Kabylie (2-1) on Saturday at the Houcine Ait Ahmed stadium in Tizi Ouzou, in the second preliminary round return leg, after a heavy defeat in the first leg in Sfax (0-3). Note that the draw for the group stage of the Champions League and the CAF Cup will take place on November 3rd in Johannesburg, South Africa.
