The Ministry of Commerce and Export Development has announced that it has received a notification from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) regarding an economic concentration operation between Tractafric Equipment International GBL, as the acquirer, and Bartrac Equipment GBL, the target company.

According to a statement released by the Ministry on Friday, the operation was officially notified to the COMESA Commission on May 7, 2026, and registered under the number CCC/MER/04/14/2026, in accordance with the COMESA Competition and Consumer Protection Regulation for the year 2025.

The Ministry notes that this concentration is now subject to an examination and consultation phase, within the framework of regional mechanisms for controlling merger and acquisition operations.

In this context, the Ministry invites public structures, professional organizations, economic operators, and any interested parties to consult the notification on the official website of the COMESA Commission, via the dedicated section for ongoing case records.

The operation concerns companies active in the distribution of equipment and machines destined for several strategic sectors, including agriculture, industry, mining, electricity, and construction, with international brand portfolios.

The Ministry of Commerce has indicated that additional observations and information can be submitted directly to the Directorate General of Competition and Economic Investigations.
