Minister of Transport, Mr. Rached Amri, Presides Over Meeting on Deep-Water Port Project
On Friday, December 5, 2025, the Minister of Transport, Mr. Rached Amri, chaired a working session dedicated to monitoring the implementation of the deep-water port project and the logistics services zone in Enfidha, as well as examining its financing mechanisms.
The session was attended by officials from the Ministry of Transport, the CEO of the Enfidha Port Company, the CEO of the Merchant Marine and Ports Office (OMMP), and representatives from the Ministries of Economy and Planning, Agriculture and Water Resources, Equipment and Housing, and Environment.
Key Highlights
The Minister emphasized the importance of this national project, considering it strategic given Tunisia's privileged position in the Mediterranean, which accounts for 30% of maritime traffic. He stressed that Tunisia is moving forward with the implementation of this project while fully respecting national sovereignty, following a clear and progressive approach defined by a schedule of deadlines, and in line with the state's various policies, particularly environmental ones.
Mr. Rached Amri added that the intensification of regional and international competition, as well as the acceleration of technological development in the maritime field, makes it imperative to invest in next-generation ports. He also highlighted the benefits of the deep-water port, which allows for cost control, accommodation of large vessels, enhanced investment attractiveness, and development of export chains. Furthermore, he emphasized its role in transforming the third region (the center), which spans the country and connects its western border with Algeria to its eastern coast, into a regional logistics hub.
