Minister of Finance Confirms Debt Repayment of 19.532 Billion Dinars

The Minister of Finance, Michkat Salama Al-Khaldi, confirmed today, Tuesday, October 28, 2025, the repayment of 19.532 billion dinars (M TND) for public debt service, including 8.725 M TND of external debt and 10.808 M TND of internal debt.

Salama specified, during her participation in a joint session of the Finance and Budget Committees of the People's Representative Assembly (ARP) and the National Council of Regions and Districts (CNRD), that this amount is divided into:

  • 14.861 M TND for the principal of the debt
  • 4.671 M TND for interest

Budget Execution and Economic Performance

During this joint session, dedicated to monitoring the execution of the state budget for 2025 until the end of September, she stated that a global realization rate of approximately 79.1% had been recorded compared to the estimates of the 2025 Finance Law.

Budget Expenditures for 2025

The Minister indicated that, in light of the results of the budget execution until the end of September, the budget expenditures for 2025 should reach a level of 58.381 M TND, representing a saving of 1.447 M TND compared to the estimates of the 2025 Finance Law.

Savings and Economic Factors

Salama explained that this saving mainly concerns hydrocarbon subsidy expenditures, which should amount to 5.719 M TND, compared to an initial estimate of 7.112 M TND, representing a saving of 1.393 M TND, linked to the decline in oil prices on global markets.

Key Economic Indicators

She highlighted that:

  • There will be no recourse to a complementary finance law during the current year.
  • Trade exchanges recorded, until the end of September, stability in exports and an increase in imports of 5.4%.
  • A growth rate of 3.2% was recorded, and the unemployment rate decreased to 15.3% during the second quarter of the current year.
