Dr. Riadh Gouider Outlines Key Objectives as New First Vice-President of the World Federation of Neurology

Dr. Riadh Gouider, Head of the Neurology Department at Razi Hospital and Chairman of the Neurology and Neurosurgery Specialty Commission, presented today, Tuesday, the main points he will focus on during his new term as First Vice-President of the World Federation of Neurology. In a phone intervention on National Radio, Dr. Gouider stated that he will concentrate on convincing African countries to join the World Federation of Neurology. Dr. Gouider highlighted the low participation of Arab and African countries in global federal conferences, where the number of Arab speakers does not exceed four, and that of African participants is around six. He emphasized that he will work towards increased support for Arab and African presence. The Professor of Neurology also indicated that one of the important points he will work on during his new term is the issue of continuous training, to enable different doctors to access training centers. Regarding his election to this important position as the first Arab and African, Dr. Riadh Gouider explained that this position was previously reserved for developed countries, having been occupied by Australians, Japanese, Germans, Americans, and Canadians since its creation in 1995. The guest on National Radio emphasized that it was not easy for a person of Arab origin to be elected to this position, stressing that work is the fundamental key to success. Tunisian Neurology Professor, Riadh Gouider, was elected as the First Vice-President of the World Federation of Neurology for a four-year term starting from January 2026.
