Chinese Ambassador to Tunisia Updates on Key Infrastructure Projects
The Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Tunisia, Wan Li, appeared on the "Midi Eco" show on Thursday, November 20, 2025, and confirmed that the Bizerte bridge project is proceeding according to schedule. He specified that the current progress rate of the works has reached 14% and that completion is expected by 2027.
Update on El Menzah Stadium Project
The Ambassador also discussed the El Menzah stadium project, noting that the Tunisian and Chinese parties officially signed a memorandum of understanding for its reconstruction two weeks ago. He emphasized the need to intensify coordination and communication between the two parties to accelerate procedures and start work next year.
Progress on Kairouan Medical City "Aghlabides" Project
Regarding the Kairouan Medical City "Aghlabides" project, the Chinese Ambassador mentioned the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two parties to conduct a feasibility study. He specified that the Tunisian side has completed the first phase of this study and added that both parties should coordinate to set a date for a virtual meeting to continue the feasibility study.
Importance of Feasibility Studies for Large Projects
The Ambassador explained that "large projects require the development of a precise feasibility study, and it is based on its results that it is possible to discuss the issue of financing," emphasizing that there is "no coordination on this matter" at the moment. He highlighted the importance of thorough planning and coordination for the successful completion of these infrastructure projects.
