Celebration of Tahar Haddad's Legacy
The House of Culture in El Hamma, in collaboration with the Nabd al Maraa Tunisia Association (Heart of the Tunisian Woman) and the Association of Former Syndicalists of Gabès, celebrated on Saturday, December 6, 2025, the 90th anniversary of the passing of Tunisian thinker and reformer Tahar Haddad.
Ceremony and Tributes
During the ceremony, a reading of the Fatiha was held in memory of the deceased, followed by the laying of a wreath of flowers on his commemorative monument. Several interventions highlighted Tahar Haddad's intellectual legacy and his role in modernizing thought within the Zitouna school.
Discussing Haddad's Impact
The event, which brought together representatives of local authorities, activists, syndicalists, and intellectuals, also addressed Tahar Haddad's commitment to social reforms and modernity, as well as his vision for the condition of women in Tunisia, society, and the law.
Continuing the Commemorations
The commemorations continued on Sunday with the screening of the short film "Hawas," directed by amateur filmmaker Abdallah Aoun. The director then presented an intervention on Tunisian reformist thought and the Personal Status Code, highlighting the lasting impact of Tahar Haddad on Tunisian society.
