Special Transportation Program for Eid al-Adha
In celebration of Eid al-Adha and in coordination with national and regional land transport companies, as well as professionals in the public non-regulated transportation sector, the Ministry of Transport has implemented a special program for citizens from Friday, May 22, 2026, to Monday, June 1, 2026.
Program Objectives
The program aims to meet the demand for mobility by increasing the availability of the fleet and consolidating human resources to ensure the smooth operation of trips in the best possible conditions. This includes the deployment of new buses recently acquired, which have allowed the relaunch of several suspended lines and the creation of a set of vital new lines.
Key Measures
According to a statement released on Thursday, May 21, the public transport companies have been authorized to operate additional trips on all their lines, as well as on other lines based on demand. This will increase the overall offer by approximately 45%.
Additional Measures
The Ministry has also specified that the National Society of Interurban Transport (SNTRI) has allowed passengers to purchase tickets or reserve without any restrictions on the number of seats offered, on all regular lines of the society departing from the Bab Saadoun and Bab Alioua bus stations. Furthermore, it has been decided to rely on the Transtu (Society of Transportation of Tunis) fleet to support the offer in case of a significant increase in demand on certain lines.
Railway Services
Regarding the main lines of the Tunisian National Railways Society (SNCFT), the company will reinforce the composition of its trains with 32 additional cars and schedule 140 regular trips, allowing for approximately 25,000 seats.
Non-Regulated Transportation Services
In the context of public non-regulated transportation services, taxi drivers have been exceptionally authorized to operate on the entire territory of the Republic, without being restricted by the circulation zone provided for on their exploitation card, from Friday, May 22, 2026, to Monday, June 1, 2026.
Monitoring and Control
In the same context, the Ministry has emphasized that teams of controllers have been mobilized to ensure surveillance and monitoring of this program at bus stations, railway stations, and taxi stations across the Tunisian territory. A coordination office has also been created within the General Directorate of Land Transport and regional transport directions to oversee and closely monitor these control operations.
