SONEDE Calls on Citizens to Conserve Water During Eid al-Adha

In the spirit of Eid al-Adha, the National Society for the Exploitation and Distribution of Water (SONEDE) has urged its customers to contribute to the efficient management of water resources and rationalize their consumption.

In fact, the Society recommends postponing secondary uses of water, such as bathing and irrigation, beyond 18 hours. This is to ensure a regular supply of water for all citizens and maintain a normal flow during the first hours of the day when the sacrifice takes place.

In a statement published today, Tuesday, May 26, 2026, on its official Facebook page, SONEDE explained that the Eid coincides with a remarkable rise in temperatures, leading to a significant increase in demand for potable water. To ensure continuity of service during the Eid days, the company has taken a series of preventive and organizational measures. These include mobilizing 1,200 agents and staff, including hydraulic installation guards and emergency and permanent teams to address any emergencies.

SONEDE has also made available to its subscribers the phone numbers of its districts in various governorates, in addition to the free green number (80100319) of the central monitoring cell. Supervised by specialized managers, this cell will be operational 24/7 throughout the Eid period to respond immediately to citizen calls and intervene if necessary.

While ensuring that its services will intervene quickly to limit potential disruptions and outages, the company has, however, reminded that sudden outages remain possible. SONEDE manages a water network of over 60,000 kilometers, including more than 4,000 pumping stations and reservoirs.
