Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population Announces Fatal Factory Fire
The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced on Friday the death of eight people and the injury of 35 others in a fire that broke out in a clothing factory located in the El Yamani region, in the district of Mahalla El Kubra, Gharbia province, west of Cairo.
Incident Details
According to the official statement, the fire started in the morning due to an electrical short circuit that caused a fire and the explosion of a boiler, resulting in the partial collapse of the building.
Emergency Response
The ministry immediately dispatched 26 medically equipped ambulances to the scene, allowing for the rapid transfer of the injured to regional hospitals. The preliminary toll reports eight deaths and 35 people injured. Civil defense teams are continuing rescue and debris removal operations to search for any potential survivors or additional victims.
Ongoing Efforts
Meanwhile, the Gharbia province stated in an official statement that it has taken total control of the fire. A commission of construction experts has been tasked with inspecting adjacent buildings to assess their stability and ensure the safety of nearby residents.
