Earthquake of Magnitude 6.1 Strikes Ecuador
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit Arenillas, a municipality in the coastal province of El Oro, Ecuador, on Tuesday evening, according to the country's Geophysical Institute. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 83 km and was recorded at 19:05 local time (00:05 GMT), the institute reported. No casualties or material damage have been reported so far. According to messages posted by residents on digital platforms, the tremor was strongly felt in the city of Guayaquil, in the southwest of the country, and in other cities in the province of El Oro, located on the border with Peru.
