Tunis Court Concludes Hearing of Journalists' Defense Requests
The criminal chamber of the Tunis Court of First Instance has recently concluded the hearing of all formal requests presented by the defense collective of journalists Mourad Zeghidi and Borhane Bsaïes. These requests include the appointment of a reporting judge to verify the accuracy of their assets and property, as well as their release to finalize tax conciliation procedures with the tax administration.
As a result, the Chamber has decided to put the case under deliberation after the hearing to examine the release requests and rule on the remaining petitions. The case concerns allegations of tax evasion and money laundering, according to statements from members of the Zeghidi and Bsaïes defense collective.
