National Chamber of Wholesale Pharmacists Expresses Deep Concern Over Payment Delays

The National Chamber of Wholesale Pharmacists (CSPGR) expressed its deep concern on Thursday, September 26, 2025, over the worsening payment delays for debts owed to private pharmacy owners. This delay, according to the CSPGR, now threatens the sustainability of the entire pharmaceutical distribution system in Tunisia.

In an official statement, the CSPGR indicated that these delays - mentioned in the latest note from the National Pharmacists' Union dated September 16, 2025 - have direct repercussions on the activity of wholesale distributors. These distributors are facing critical financial pressure, preventing them from honoring their financial commitments to the Central Pharmacy, pharmaceutical laboratories, and pharmaceutical manufacturers, in a context of increasingly reduced profit margins.

The Chamber warns that the absence of rapid and structural solutions risks causing a disruption in the supply of the market, compromising citizens' right to fair and continuous access to medication.

In the face of this alarming situation, the CSPGR calls on public authorities and all concerned parties to act without delay to unblock this issue. It emphasizes the need to implement profound structural reforms aimed at ensuring the balance and sustainability of the entire pharmaceutical chain, including private pharmacies, the Central Pharmacy, and wholesale distributors.

The CSPGR also warns that if payment delays persist, some distributors may be forced to suspend the delivery of medication to pharmacies that do not respect their financial commitments, which could exacerbate an already worrying crisis.

Finally, the Chamber assures that it will continue to closely monitor the evolution of this issue, in coordination with the representative structures of the sector, with a view to protecting the profession and guaranteeing the right of all citizens to access care.
