National Council of the Order of Pharmacists of Tunisia Calls for Urgent Measures

The National Council of the Order of Pharmacists of Tunisia issued a call today, Thursday, for the relevant authorities to take urgent measures in response to the legitimate demands submitted by the various stakeholders in the pharmaceutical sector. These measures aim to ensure the continuity of this vital sector and preserve the citizen's right to access medication in the best conditions.

This stance follows an extraordinary working session held by the Order yesterday, Wednesday. The meeting, which was attended by the Tunisian Syndicate of Private Pharmacy Owners and the National Syndical Chamber of Wholesale Pharmacists-Distributors, was dedicated to examining the current developments in the sector and their direct repercussions.

The session addressed the aggravation of practical and financial difficulties faced by the sector, highlighting in particular the persistence of delays in settling the debts of private pharmacies with the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM) and the negative consequences that result from this on the activity of wholesalers-distributors. This situation seriously threatens the stability and sustainability of the entire drug supply system.

The National Council welcomed the decision of the Tunisian Syndicate of Private Pharmacy Owners to maintain the "third-party payer" system for common illnesses. It also noted with satisfaction the positive response of the National Syndical Chamber of Wholesale Pharmacists-Distributors to the Order's call to continue supplying pharmacies despite the great difficulties faced by this essential component of the sector.
