Arrests Made in Ambulance Drug Trafficking Case
The prosecutor's office near the Kef Court of First Instance ordered, on Friday, the detention of an ambulance driver and the administrator of the Kef Regional Hospital, suspected of drug trafficking and falsifying travel authorizations.
Background
This decision follows the seizure, by the Kef Regional Brigade for Combating Narcotics, of a large quantity of narcotic pills hidden on board an ambulance belonging to the Kef Regional Hospital. The operation took place early in the morning in the town of Borj El Aifa, on National Road No. 5, as the vehicle was returning from Tunis to Kef.
Discovery of Illicit Substances
A thorough search allowed agents to discover the illicit substances carefully hidden inside the vehicle, in addition to a sum of money whose exact amount remains to be determined.
Investigation and Proceedings
According to Mohamed Amine Ayari, substitute prosecutor and spokesperson for the court, the prosecutor's office ordered the seizure of the merchandise, money, and vehicle, as well as the opening of a judicial investigation.
Further Action
As part of the case, the authorities also seized all administrative documents related to the movements of the ambulance in question and the mission orders issued regarding it. The ambulance driver and the hospital administrator were placed in custody under Article 96 of the Penal Code, on suspicion of forgery and abuse of function.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of the network and any potential internal or external complicity.
