Dr. Ramzi Nouira Announces Expansion of Robotic Surgery in Tunisia
Dr. Ramzi Nouira, head of the digestive surgery department at Charles-Nicolle Hospital, stated yesterday that robotic surgery in Tunisia will be expanded to new disciplines, including thoracic surgery, pediatric surgery, and ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) surgery. He also specified that the necessary equipment will be provided to generalize this technology across the entire national territory, not just in the capital. Dr. Nouira explained to National Radio that robotic surgery offers the surgeon a three-dimensional (3D) vision, ensuring increased precision during interventions, while also allowing for a reduction in post-operative convalescence time for the patient. It is worth noting that Charles-Nicolle University Hospital made history for Tunisian medicine on Tuesday by successfully performing the country's first robotic-assisted nephrectomy (kidney removal).
