Documentary Film Month: A Cinematic Journey Through Tunisia

From September 18 to October 12, the Documentary Film Month (MCD) invites the Tunisian public to a demanding and engaging cinematic journey, with screenings, debates, and masterclasses, to highlight the richness of documentary cinema and its unique voices.

Opening Night

The MCD opened its doors on Thursday, September 18, with the screening of "La Guêpe et l'orchidée" (The Wasp and the Orchid) by Saber Zammour, a Tunisian-French co-production, at 7:30 pm at the Cinémadart in Carthage. The film tells the story of a young migrant leaving his village for Paris, a city he discovered on a television screen, leaving behind a deserted village, while the vast capital reveals itself to be even more immense.

A Diverse Program

This edition, carried by the Échos cinématographiques association in partnership with a local distribution company, is aimed at a wide audience, professionals, and students. It aims to create bridges for the diffusion of alternative cinema throughout the country, offering a program of screenings accompanied by open debates with the directors, and a tour in several cities.

The first week promises to be a rich and diverse one. "Les Miennes" (My Own) by Samira El Mouzghibati (Belgium, Morocco) will be screened on Saturday, September 20, at 7:30 pm at the Cinémadart, after being shown at the Espace Majestic in Bizerte on Friday, September 19, at 7:00 pm, the Espace Jeelen in Nabeul on Sunday, September 21, at 5:30 pm, and the Espace Fausse Note in Hammamet on the same day at 7:00 pm.
