Tourist Numbers Reach 1.12 Million in Tunisia by End of October 2025

According to Hichem Mahouachi, the Delegate of Tourism in Djerba, the number of tourists has reached 1 million 120 thousand since the beginning of the year until the end of October 2025.

Mahouachi stated this during a phone interview on Saturday morning, November 8, 2025, on the National Radio. He indicated that there has been a 5.6% increase in the number of tourists compared to the same period in 2024.

Tunisian Tourists Rank Second, After French Tourists

Mahouachi specified that Tunisian tourists occupy the second position with 220,000 tourists, just after French tourists who rank first with 280,000 tourists. The Polish tourist ranks third for the first time, followed by German and Libyan tourists.

The regional tourism delegate emphasized that if more accurate data were available concerning Tunisian tourists who do not book hotels, the Tunisian market would occupy the first place in terms of the number of visitors.

Djerba-Zarzis: A Leading Tourist Destination

The Delegate of Tourism in Djerba, Hichem Mahouachi, considered the Djerba-Zarzis tourist destination as the first in terms of overnight stays, accounting for a quarter of the national overnight stays, according to the figures for 2023 and 2024. This destination has approximately 100 hotels and 120 travel agencies, according to Mahouachi.

He added that it is the primary destination and serves as a launch platform for the southern region of Tunisia, thanks to the organization of excursions to the governorates of Gabès, Tataouine, Kébili, and Tozeur.

Diversified Tunisian Tourist Product

Mahouachi highlighted the diversified Tunisian tourist product, particularly in terms of natural resources, in the south, where tourists can move from the beach to the desert. He emphasized the diversity of tourist nationalities in Tunisia, stressing the need to work on all non-traditional markets and ensure that the tourist product meets the requirements of different nationalities.
