President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, Receives High-Level Delegation

The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, received a high-level delegation yesterday, December 2, at the Carthage Palace, comprising:

  • Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League
  • Ms. Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union
  • Mr. Mohamed Ben Omar, Director-General of the Arab Organization for Information and Communication Technologies
  • Mr. Mohamed Salah Ben Issa, Deputy Secretary-General and Director of the Arab League Center in Tunis

Meeting Highlights

At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of State expressed his gratitude for the participation of the Secretary-General of the Arab League and the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union in the opening of the Summit "Artificial Intelligence towards the Future", organized by the Arab Organization for Information and Communication Technologies on December 2 and 3, under the auspices of the Ministry of Communication Technologies, and held under the slogan "From the Information Society to the Intelligence Society".

The President's Address

The President of the Republic estimated that humanity is currently undergoing a historic turning point due to the communication revolution, where what was once considered science fiction has become a tangible reality. He emphasized the need for all Arab countries to be at the forefront of digital transformations that have changed the world, affirming that digitization is a tool of major importance in many areas, particularly in the fight against corruption.

The Importance of Responsible Digital Transformation

The Head of State also explained that these transformations have positive effects and advantages, but that every advantage has its counterpart, to which we must prepare and pay attention. Humanity is recreating itself, but values must not disappear, truths must not be falsified, and modern means of communication must not be diverted for intellectual alienation, manipulation, or defamation.
