Ministry of Cultural Affairs Announces the Passing of Renowned Writer and Thinker Chadly Saker
The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has announced, in a statement, the death of writer and thinker Chadly Saker, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 79. Born on March 22, 1946, in Tozeur, the deceased was considered one of the most prominent figures in thought and literature in the Djerid region. He became involved in cultural action at a young age, founding several associations and intellectual circles. He also actively participated in national cultural life, while showing a deep interest in documenting the history and culture of southern Tunisia.
Throughout his career, Chadly Saker received numerous awards, including one from the Secretariat of the Poetic Evenings of the Arab League. His book "Aboulkacem Chebbi: Life and Works" is considered a major reference work that has enriched the Tunisian library. Through a prolific body of work comprising over 45 books and more than a hundred research studies and articles published in Tunisian and Arab newspapers and magazines, the deceased contributed to the valorization and support of the national cultural heritage, as well as the preservation and enrichment of Tunisia's cultural memory.
