National Food Safety Authority Warns Against Consuming Dead Fish
The National Food Safety Authority (INSSPA) issued a warning on Sunday against consuming dead fish that have washed up on beaches near the capital, as they can cause food poisoning and serious illnesses that threaten consumer health.
According to an INSSPA statement, large quantities of dead fish have been detected in Lake Tunis, in the southern suburbs of Slimane, and on several beaches. The authority urged citizens not to collect or consume these fish, recommending that they not be purchased or consumed regardless of their origin or price.
The INSSPA announced that collecting, selling, or distributing dead fish is a blatant violation of the law and exposes sellers and fishermen to judicial prosecution and even closure of their premises. The authority called on citizens to immediately report any violations via the INSSPA's green line number: 80106977.
