Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries Announces Positive Date Harvest Forecast

The Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries announced on Thursday, September 25, 2025, that the forecasts for the 2025-2026 date harvest season are very positive, with an expected significant production. This estimate is based on the increase in the number of pollinated regimes and the entry into production of new plantations.

This was confirmed by the Minister of Agriculture, Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh, during a working meeting dedicated to monitoring the date season, held at the ministry's headquarters in the presence of central officials, representatives of concerned structures, and, via video conference, regional delegations from the main production areas (Tozeur, Kébili, Gafsa, Gabès).

The Minister emphasized the need to mobilize all actors in the sector to ensure the smooth running of the campaign, while ensuring the quality of the product and its competitive positioning on domestic and international markets.

The meeting resulted in several practical recommendations, including:

  • Strengthening distribution channels
  • Increased presence in the field during harvest operations
  • Optimizing export marketing mechanisms with the aim of consolidating the position of Tunisian dates on the global market

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the sector and accompanying producers to maximize the economic benefits of this strategic campaign.
