Tunisia's Dam Storage Reaches 669 Million Cubic Meters, a 28.3% Fill Rate

According to data as of Friday, September 26, 2025, Tunisia's dam storage has reached 669 million cubic meters, representing a fill rate of 28.3%. This information was communicated by Anis Ben Rayana, an agricultural expert.

Speaking on the "Expresso Weekend" show on Saturday, Ben Rayana added that compared to the same period in 2024, the dam storage was 527 million cubic meters, which represents an increase of 56 million cubic meters compared to the average of the last three years.

The total dam storage (669 million cubic meters) is broken down as follows:

  • Northern Regions: 91.6% of the stock, with a fill rate of 33.1%.
  • Central Regions: 55 million cubic meters, with a fill rate of 9.9%.
  • Cap Bon (small dams): Only 1.7% of the stock, with 11.4 million cubic meters and a fill rate of 18.4%.

According to Ben Rayana, the water intake from rainfall since the beginning of the season (September 1, 2025) amounts to approximately 22 million cubic meters, while the usual average is 69 million cubic meters. This represents a deficit of 58.6% compared to the average.

Ben Rayana also noted that precipitation has been below average, reaching only 13.9 millimeters during the first 26 days of September, compared to an average of 21.9 millimeters for this period. The rainfall therefore represents only 64% of the seasonal averages.
