Cybercrime Prevention Strategy Announced by Tunisian Ministry of Interior

On Monday, September 22, 2025, Sahbi Al-Amri, head of the judicial police service at the Ministry of Interior, announced that the ministry has implemented a clear strategy and comprehensive plan to combat cybercrime. He emphasized that online activities are not isolated from reality and can affect the stability of society and even the sovereignty of the state.

During his appearance on the "Yom Said" show on National Radio, he specified that this strategy is based on four pillars:

  • Raising awareness and educating the public on protecting personal data
  • Informing security units in case of suspicious activity
  • Providing training and strengthening skills
  • Enhancing international cooperation and national partnerships

Al-Amri explained that the strategy includes a training component to strengthen the skills of the ministry's specialized cybersecurity units, preparing them to face complex threats. According to Al-Amri, Tunisia is fully engaged in the cyber space through international cooperation and national partnerships with key actors such as the Ministries of Communication Technologies, Justice, Higher Education, and Scientific Research, as well as civil society.

He defined cybercrime as any illegal act committed via the internet, such as:

  • Hacking social networks
  • Stealing personal or banking data
  • Digital extortion through messages or photos He stressed the need to protect personal data and avoid opening suspicious links.

Upcoming Events

Al-Omari announced that the second part of the national conference on "Cybercrime in the face of artificial intelligence and modern technological developments" will be held on October 8, under the supervision of the Minister of Interior and the Secretary of State for National Security. In parallel, an exhibition of companies specialized in information security will be organized on October 6 and 7, to showcase the latest innovations and strengthen partnerships between the public and private sectors.
