Espérance Sportive de Tunis (EST) Protests Against Refereeing in African Champions League Match

The Espérance Sportive de Tunis (EST) has expressed its strong protest following the 1-1 draw against Atlético Petró de Luanda in Angola, during the second day of the group stage of the African Champions League. In a statement published on its official Facebook page, the Tunisian club announced that it has filed an official protest with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding the refereeing of Jean-Jacques Ndala, the match referee. EST believes that the referee deprived the team of a precious victory and that some of his decisions were characterized by blatant bad faith. The club specifies that it has transmitted video sequences to the CAF highlighting the errors committed by the referee and is now waiting for a clear and justified response from the continental body. Espérance also recalled the injustices suffered during the previous edition of the Champions League, particularly against Sundowns, when a valid goal by Ashraf Jebri was disallowed despite the use of video assistant refereeing (VAR).
